The ASUS Rampage II motherboard comes in two configurations, the Extreme and the Gene. You can update the basic input/output system (BIOS) on both versions using the ASUS Update utility from the disc that came with the motherboard. ASUS Update will download the BIOS update from the Internet and flash it to your machine. Once you run the update software, the BIOS will update automatically upon rebooting the computer.
Instructions
1. Install ASUS Update from the CD that came with the motherboard. Insert the CD, click "Utilities" and select "Install ASUS Update."
2. Open ASUS Update by clicking the "Start" button, then selecting "All Programs" and clicking "ASUS." Select "ASUS Update" and click "ASUS Update" again.
3. Back up your current BIOS by selecting "Save Current BIOS to File" and clicking "Next." Name the current BIOS file and click "Save."
4. Click "Update BIOS" on the drop-down menu and click "Next."
5. Select the download location nearest to you, then click "Next." Click "Proxy Settings" and enter any network or proxy settings you need to connect to the Internet, then click "Next."
6. Select the latest version of the Rampage II BIOS and click "Next" to download the file.
7. Click the "Flash" button to update the BIOS. Click "Yes" to reboot the PC once the flashing process is finished.
