Define A Video Adapter In Windows Xp On An Acer

When you add a new video adapter to your Windows XP computer, you must uninstall the old video adapter drivers and install the new ones. You can control your hardware drivers and installation in the Windows XP Device Manager, which allows you to define a new video card on your computer. This is required for graphics and monitor output.

Instructions

1. Right-click the "My Computer" icon on your Windows XP desktop. Select "Properties" to open a configuration window. Click the "Hardware" tab. Click the "Device Manager" button to open the utility.

2. Right-click your current video card icon in the list of hardware and select "Uninstall." Device Manager removes your old video card drivers.

3. Click "Action" at the top of the menu and select "Scan for hardware changes." This menu option finds the new video adapter and defines a new adapter in your list of installed hardware.

4. Right-click the new video card icon and select "Properties." Click the "Drivers" tab. Insert your video card manufacturer's CD in the computer's drive and click "Update Driver."

5. Click "Browse" and choose your CD-ROM drive. Click "OK." The new manufacturer drivers update and install on your computer.
