Connect A Power Switch

A power switch is the basic element that lets your machine draw up the necessary power from the source. It comes across as a very basic thing, in fact, an almost neglected entity. However, it can become a headache if you are not able to connect the power switch properly. The motherboard is a sensitive part of the computer and the power switch regulates the supply of power to it. Hence, it's even more important to ensure that the power switch is connected properly.

Instructions

1. Power off your computer. Open the outer case of the CPU by unscrewing the screws located at its rear end. Slide off the side panel and set it aside. Observe a small (black color) power button on the back side of the CPU.

2. Search for the cable (usually black and white wires) at the back of the power button (on the insides of CPU). Follow this cable onto the motherboard. Carefully unplug the cable from the motherboard. Go back to the power button. Remove the screw holding the power button. Set the screw aside.

3. Place the new power button in the old one's place. Put back the screw you removed earlier from the power switch. Connect the wire you removed back onto the motherboard.

4. Replace the side panel. Also put the screws back before you power on your system.
