Install An Xfx Geforce 8800 Gt

NVIDIA is the creator of the GeForce line of graphics cards for the PC. Installing a GeForce graphics card, such as the XFX GeForce 8800 GT, requires a motherboard with a PCI-Express slot, found on all modern motherboards. To install the XFX GeForce 8800 GT, you will need to install the card first to your motherboard and then install the necessary drivers and software.

Instructions

1. Turn off the computer and unplug everything from your computer case.

2. Open your computer case. As all computer cases are designed differently, consult your manual if you have difficulties opening it.

3. Locate the PCI-Express slot on your motherboard. It is a long slot located in the bottom left-hand corner of your motherboard, near the back of your computer case. It will usually be labeled "PCI-E" in white letters.

4. Unscrew the mounting bracket using your screwdriver in front of the PCI-E slot you are using.

5. Slide the XFX GeForce 8800 GT into the PCI-Express slot, aligning the back plate of the card with the opening in your case. Screw in the back plate to the computer case using the screw you removed previously.

6. Close your computer case and plug all components back into the case. Use the included DVI cable to attach the XFX GeForce 8800 GT to your monitor and turn the computer on.

7. Insert the software disc that came with your XFX GeForce 8800 GT once Windows has booted. Follow all prompts to install the necessary drivers and software needed to use your card to its fullest capacity.
