Settings & Specifications For The Intel Gd82559 Wired Ethernet Adapter

The GD82559 Ethernet adapter allows your computer to transmit data at up to 100 Mbps.

Intel's GD82559 wired Ethernet adapter is designed to provide wired Ethernet solutions with low-power small-space requirements. The GD82559 adapter is powered by Intel's 82559 Fast Ethernet Controller. The 82559 boasts an impressive feature set with a variety of customizable settings.

Feature

The 82559 is capable of supporting transmission speeds of either 10 or 100 Mbps on 802.3 standards. The 82559's bus master capabilities enable the GD82559 to carry out more independent processing, offloading processing tasks from your CPU. This allows your computer to continue running with minimum interruption even during large network tasks. The 82559 also offers wake on LAN features, allowing your computer to be awoken by network traffic coming in over the local area network.

Hardware

The 82559 uses a highly efficient chained memory structure similar to its predecessors, allowing for backwards compatibility. The chip utilizes a glue 32-bit PCI master interface for long life and durability and has a system management bus for advanced support and settings configuration.

Power Management

In addition to its wake on LAN features, the 82559 chip provides a host of power management features. The device operates at 3.3 volts. Additionally, it features a dynamic standby mode, allowing it to draw less power when not in use. When required again, the card quickly resumes normal operation. The chip also features deep-power down support allowing it to stop functioning entirely when needed, avoiding using your computer's power that is needed elsewhere.
