Ecs M825vxx Motherboard Specifications

The ECS M825 VX.X motherboard is produced by the Elitegroup Computer Systems, based in Taiwan. This older model motherboard was originally produced in 2002; however, the user's manual and system drivers are still available on the company's sister site, PCChips. The M825 was produced with only one version number, V1.2B, although many computer tools may simply identify the motherboard as VXX (or version X.X, without corresponding numerals).

CPU, chipset and memory

The ECS M825 motherboard features a socket 462 CPU interface. This supports the AMD Athlon XP/Athlon/Duron processors. The Front-Side Bus (FSB) speed supported by this interface is 200 or 266 MHz. The chipset featured on this motherboard consists of a VIA KM266 Northbridge and a VT8233 Southbridge. Together, these microchips provide enhanced performance for 2D and 3D graphics, as well as support for a 4xAGP graphics interface. The memory support on this motherboard includes two 168-pin SDRAM slots and two 184-pin DDR slots. The memory bus speed supported is 100 or 133 MHz. Maximum memory capacity of the board is 2 GB.

Expansion Slots

Most motherboards include expansion slots that allow users to install additional capacity for various functions, including video, networking and other types of expansion cards. The M825 is no exception. Expansion slots included on this motherboard allow for one CNR card, one 4X AGP 2.0 graphics card and two 32-bit PCI slots (PCI 2.2 compliant). While the 4X AGP 2.0 graphics slot provides support for enhanced graphics used in many games today, the PCI slots provide much more functionality, supporting everything from USB cards to Ethernet and Wi-Fi cards.

Input/Output Ports

The M825 includes PC99 Color Connectors. These connectors are color-coded with the industry standard colors, making connecting peripheral devices, such as the mouse and keyboard, much easier. The motherboard also has the connection to support one floppy disk drive. There is one serial port and one parallel port, which are used to support some printers and other output devices. Integrated into the motherboard is a game/MIDI port and two USB ports. The motherboard also provides six additional USB headers that can be used to connect additional USB ports via a ribbon connection. The final connection that is built into the motherboard is the Ethernet LAN connection. This connection provides 100 Mbps connection speed through the use of a 10BaseT/100BaseTX connection.
