The Asus P5Q Pro motherboard is compatible with a range of Intel Core 2 Duo processors. It also supports other Intel-brand microprocessors, including the Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Pentium Dual Core and Celeron Dual Core.
Features
The P5Q Pro motherboard uses an Intel P45 chipset and Socket LGA 775 processor interface. It features a variable speed front-side bus (FSB), which you can set to 800 MHz, 1066 MHz, 1333 MHz or 1600 MHz, depending on the FSB clock speed requirements of the Core 2 Duo processor used with the motherboard.
Compatibility
The P5Q Pro's Socket LGA 775 interface is compatible with first- and second-generation Core 2 Duo processors. It supports older, 65 nm Core 2 Duos, which Intel offers in speeds ranging from 1.8 GHz to 3.0 GHz. It also handles the new 45 nm Core 2 Duos, which provide clock speeds up to 3.33 GHz.
Considerations
Asus equips the P5Q Pro motherboard with four DIMM slots for installing up to 4 GB of DDR2 dual channel memory. The memory used with the motherboard must match the front-side bus clock speed requirements of the Core 2 Duo processor. For example, the E7600 Core 2 Duo requires 1066 MHz DDR2 memory.
