Update My Display Driver

A display driver allows your monitor to output video from your computer.

A driver is a software program that allows your computer to communicate with hardware devices. The display driver refers to the driver that controls video output from your computer to your monitor. Sometimes hardware manufacturers release updated drivers for their products. This could be to increase functionality, to fix glitches or to allow it to meet the requirements of the operating system. Ensuring your display driver is in sync with the manufacturer will help guarantee hardware functionality on your computer.

Instructions

1. Close all programs. This will make sure that programs do not interfere with the driver update.

2. Right-click on My Computer and click on Properties. This will take you into the System Properties menu.

3. Click on Device Manager. The Device Manager is where the hardware devices on your computer are managed. The drivers for these devices are also listed here.

4. Expand the Display Adapters column by clicking on it. This will show the current display adapter your computer is using.

5. Right-click on the adapter, and select Properties.

6. Click the Driver tab. This tab shows all of the information regarding the current driver, as well as options to update, remove or roll back the driver.

7. Click Update Driver.

8. Two options will be listed. One is for your computer to scan for a new driver, and the other it to browse for the drivers' location. Since we have the driver, we are going to click browse and select where the driver is located.

9. Click next. The computer will try to install the display driver. If it is successful, the new display will be loaded.
