Build A Corner Shelf

Plywood works well for quick surdy corner shelves.

A corner shelf provides a handy location for your television, stereo and DVD player. Whether it's for the dining room, kitchen or den, the shelving unit will allow you to keep your entertainment devices in a convenient spot. This unit's durable design could cost a lot of money in stores, but if you're willing to build it yourself, materials can cost much less-and be installed in less than an hour. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a corner for your shelf. Screw the 24 inch board to the wall so the board is flat and horizontal against the wall-the end tight in the corner. Use your level to ensure the board is horizontal. Screw the 22- 1/2 inch board to the wall so it also lies horizontally and flat against the wall-and so one end is butted up against the the 24 inch board. These are the supports for your shelf.

2. Cut your plywood from corner-to-corner-with the circular saw. You should end up with two triangular pieces of plywood.

3. Set one piece of plywood on top of the supports for your self. The 90 degree corner of the plywood should be tight against the corner of the wall. Screw through the plywood and into the supports. This is your top shelf.

4. Position your last sheet of plywood underneath the supports. The plywood should be positioned against the wall just as the first piece of plywood was. Screw through the plywood and into the supports that are attached to the wall. This is your bottom shelf.
