Upgrade The Motherboard In The Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 gaming system comes in a variety of styles with different capabilities based on the amount of data the system can hold. The capabilities of each Xbox 360 are determined by the motherboard. To upgrade an Xbox 360 to improve the overall performance, replace the motherboard.

Instructions

1. Purchase a new motherboard.

2. Turn the Xbox 360 over so that the underside is accessible. Use a screwdriver to remove the six screws that hold the console together. Once the screws have been taken out, the box cover can be removed.

3. Remove the hard drive from the gaming console. If you also are upgrading the hard drive, write down the hard drive's serial number to make sure the correct hard drive is attached to the motherboard.

4. Use a screwdriver to remove the nine screws that hold the motherboard in place. Remove the Game Pad connectors, which are yellow cables attached to the corner of the motherboard. The motherboard can be removed once it is unhooked from the power supply connector.

5. Place the new motherboard into Xbox. Screw the new motherboard into place, hook up the power supply and Game Pad connectors, install the new hard drive and screw the console cover back onto the top of the console.

6. Plug the game console into the electrical outlet and turn the console on to ensure everything is working correctly.
