Find The Model Number For A Slimline S3037c Motherboard

Motherboards have both a make and a model number.

The Slimline S3037c utilizes the ASUS M2NC51-AR motherboard. However, knowing the make of the motherboard may not be enough to get appropriate service. Each motherboard also has a specific model number, which can partially determine what support you may need. Rather than taking apart your computer case to discover the model number, a number of software solutions and a native Windows tool can help you to identify the model number.

Instructions

Using CPU-Z

1. Download CPU-Z from the link in the Resources section of this article. Install the program by opening the .exe file and following the on-screen prompts.

2. Open CPU-Z and it will bring up a screen with detailed system information. From here, you can determine a variety of details about your system.

3. Select the "mainboard" tab at the top of the screen. This will display details about your motherboard, including the manufacturer and model. In this case, the manufacturer will be "Asus" or "AsusTek" and the model number will be in the box below the name.

Using Belarc Advisor

4. Download Belarc Advisor from the link in the Resources section of this article. Belarc's install program will automatically open after download. Install the program using the on-screen prompts.

5. Allow any blocked content in Internet Explorer. If Internet Explorer blocks any content, it will display a bar at the top indicating that is has blocked the content. Click on the bar and select "allow."

6. Open Belarc Advisor from the start menu. It will scan your system and open an Internet Explorer window. This window is your final report. You can print or save your report.

7. Look through the report for the information related to your motherboard and locate the model number.

Using SiSoftware Sandra

8. Download SiSoftware Sandra from the link in this article's Resources section. Install the software by opening the installer file and following the on-screen prompts.

9. Open Sandra and double-click on the icon labeled "hardware." This option can also be selected from the menu at the top of the Sandra screen.

10. Sandra will take a minute or two to run a report that lists your system components. It will list motherboard manufacturer and model number in the main screen of the hardware scan.

Using the Command Prompt

11. In the "Start" menu of your PC, open the command prompt. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, this is the same box as the "search" function at the bottom of the screen that pops up when the "Start" menu is selected.

12. Type "msinfo32" without the quotes into the command prompt. A window will be displayed that provides information on your computer's system.

13. Keep the "system summary" selected. The motherboard's make is described under "system manufacturer" and the model is displayed under "system model."
