Tweak An Ati Crossfire

AMD Crossfire, developed by ATI Technologies, is a multicore graphics processing unit (GPU) display card. As with multicore processors, multicore GPUs can dramatically increase the power of a graphics card. Even though ATI CrossFire cards are a huge improvement over previous cards, it is still useful to tweak the cards so you get the best possible performance out of the cards. This is especially true if you have a much older CrossFire card and want it to compete with newer games.

Instructions

1. Update your drivers by going to the AMD Graphics Drivers and Software page. AMD releases new drivers every month and so it is essential to keep these up-to-date. Each release fixes errors, bugs and improves performance.

2. Open the ATI Catalyst Control Center and click "View," then "Advanced." This switches your controls into advanced. From here, you can tweak your graphics card as much as possible.

3. Click each of the settings on the left side and adjust the various settings depending on your preferences. For example, if you click "3-D" and then "Adaptive Anti-Aliasing," you can move the quality slider from minimum to maximum. There is a video which displays the difference. As with all tweaks, it is advisable to try modest increments and then test your system using a game. If your system remains stable, you can increase the settings again.

4. Click "Crossfire" to switch to the Crossfire specific settings. Like the standard graphics settings, it is useful to increase options here, such as Antialiaising, incrementally. If at any time your system is unstable, revert back to an older tweak.

5. Close the ATI CCC when you are finished and click "Yes" to confirm the changes.
