VGA has been the standard for computer video interfaces for years, but as digital technology became prevalent, DVI (Digital Visual Interface) has begun to replace VGA as the primary method to connect computers and displays. DVI can carry a digital signal from the video card to the monitor with no need for converting the data to an analog signal, and most video cards have one or more DVI outputs even when they also have analog VGA outputs.
Acer H233H
The Acer H233H supports DVI input as well as VGA. It has a 23-inch wide-screen display capable of displaying full 1080p HD video. This Energy Star compliant monitor has integrated speakers and is only available in black. The H233H costs approximately $200, as of 2010.
LG E2240V-PN
LG manufactures the E2240V-PN, a 22-inch wide-screen LCD monitor. It supports full 1080p HD and has LG's Photo Effect feature, optimized for manipulating photographs. Its D-sub input is suitable for analog VGA signals and it can receive digital signals through a DVI input. The E2240V-PN also costs about $200.
Samsung E1920X
The 19-inch Samsung E1920X features Samsung's Magic Return that manages dual monitor content by automatically switching images to a different monitor if one monitor is shut down. It is Energy Star compliant and certified by TCO, an organization that enforces strict environmental requirements. The Samsung E1920X costs under $150.
Viewsonic VA2026w
The wide-screen display on the Viewsonic VA2026w measures 20 inches. It supports VGA and DVI input and has an optimum resolution of 1680 x 1050. This LCD monitor is Energy Star compliant and can be used with Macs and PCs. The Viewsonic VA2026w costs approximately $200.
Asus VH222H-P
The Asus VH222H-P is a 22-inch monitor with full 1080p HD capability. It has built-in speakers and digital DVI as well as HDMI input ports. The 22-inch LCD monitor is only available in black. Asus SPLENDID Video Intelligence Technology optimizes the display for different viewing applications. The Asus VH222H-P costs under $200.
