Asus M3a Motherboard Specs

The Asus M3a supports multiple SATA connections.


People who enjoy building or modifying their own computers may consider the Asus M3a motherboard, which uses the common Advanced Technology Extended physical form factor as specified by Intel. Users who base their computers on this motherboard can build a computer to their custom specifications that can handle demands such as running the hardware as a higher clock rate (faster) than was intended.


Processor


This computer motherboard can support several CPU models from the manufacturer AMD. AMD's Socket Phenom FX, Phenom, Athlon 64 FX and Athlon 64 X2 processors are all compatible with the Asus M3a motherboard. The motherboard can accommodate both AM2+ and AM2 socket types. Processors that are capable of dual-core, triple-core and quad-core technologies will work with the Asus M3a.


Memory Compatibility


The Asus M3a motherboard is compatible with DDR2 1066 Random Access Memory, which is also known as PC2 8500. It is also backward-compatible with PC2 6400, PC2 530 and PC2 4300 memory. Four slots can accommodate modules up to a capacity of 2GB each, for a total of 8GB of memory.


Ports


This motherboard features two PS/2 ports for a computer mouse and keyboard. In addition to this, the motherboard can accommodate four USB 2.0 devices at the back panel and another six optional USB ports are at mid-board. Furthermore, there is a single coaxial connection, one serial port and six audio ports (jacks) for use with audio output devices such as speakers or headphones. Internal ports include four SATA 3 Gb/s ports with RAID 0, 1 and 0+1 support for devices like hard disks or a DVD-ROM, as well as support for two PATA devices.


Miscellaneous


The Asus M3a motherboard features a number of expansion slots, including one PCIe x16 for a graphics card, two PCIe x1 slots for general hardware and three PCI 2.2 slots. In addition to this, the Atheros PCIe Gigabit LAN controller featuring AI NET 2 can support Ethernet speeds up to 1,000 Mbps for a Gigabit network. The Realtek ALC883 audio chipset supports high-definition audio data. The motherboard is certified to work with Windows Vista.
