Overclock An Intel D950 Chip

The Intel Pentium D950 is a dual core 3.4 GHz processor. This processor is designed to boost performance while reducing power consumption. This permits faster processing without the risk of overheating a computer. The term "overclocking" refers to the process of adjust the voltage and speed of a processor to obtain better performance. Overclocking is done in the computer's BIOS menu, which is a menu that offers users the ability to tweak the system's hardware and method of operation.


Instructions


1. Restart the computer. Right before the operating system boots, the computer will display the keyboard shortcut to enter the BIOS menu. The key varies from computer to computer. Press the key that is displayed for the BIOS menu.


2. Use the arrow keys to navigate the BIOS menu. Highlight the "Frequency/Voltage Control" menu and press "Enter."


3. Use the arrow keys to increase the "CPU Speed Setting" and the "CPU Voltage." When the desired changes have been made, press "Escape" to exit the BIOS menu and start the operating system.
