Asus K8vx Specs

The KV8-X is a motherboard designed and manufactured by ASUS. This product is several generations old and is no longer manufactured. It provides users with 64-bit processor support and uses the VIA K8T800 chipset. While discontinued, you might still encounter this board through other sources like classified ads.


CPU and Memory


The K8V-X motherboard follows the AMD Socket 754 form factor. The motherboard supports both AMD Sempron processors and Athlon 64 processors that follow the Socket 754 form factor. The motherboard provides users with three RAM DIMMs. These sockets can support a maximum of 3 GB of memory. Memory compatible with this motherboard includes DDR SDRAM modules. Supported DDR SDRAM speeds include PC3200, PC2700 and PC2100. Memory modules must be un-buffered ECC or non-ECC DDR SDRAM.


Expansion and Storage


The ASUS K8V-X motherboard gives users the ability to expand and upgrade their hardware through several slots. These slots include five PCI slots into which users can plug PCI devices like sound cards. The board also has one AGP 8X slot for use with a discrete video adapter. Storage devices such as hard drives are plugged into the motherboard's ATA 133 or Serial ATA sockets. The K8V-X provides two ATA133 sockets and two Serial ATA sockets.


Internal and External Input/Output Connectors and Ports


Internal connectors and sockets on the K8V-8 include two USB 2.0 connectors, an Intel Front Panel Audio connector, a 20-pin ATX-format power connector, a 4-pin ATX-format 12-volt power connector, CPU and chassis fan connectors, a CD/AUX audio-in connector, a game port connector and an SPDIF_OUT connector. External connectors include one Serial port, four USB ports, one Parallel port, one RJ45 port, one PS/2 Keyboard port, one PS/2 Mouse port, one Audio port and one SPDIF OUT port.


Other Features and Specifications


The motherboard provides audio support through an ADI AD1980 6-channel codec and an S/PDIF interface. A Marvell 88E 8001 GbLAN provides networking support. The motherboard uses a 4-MB Flash EEPROM AMI BIOS with ASUS "EZ Flash," ASUS "Mylogo2," SM BIOS 2.3 and Crash-Free BIOS2. The K8V-X follows the ATX form factor, being 12 inches long by 9.6 inches wide. If purchased new, the board came with a support disc, a manual UltraDMA cables, an FDD cable, an IDE cable and Serial ATA cables.
