Upgrade Memory On An Imac 2 4 Intel Dualmemory

The Apple iMac series of computers is like any other computer in that upgrading the memory increases the overall speed of the computer and extends its useful life. Apple iMac computers typically come from the factory with only a portion of their total memory capacity filled to keep costs down. Over time, memory becomes cheaper. You can upgrade the memory on an Intel iMac 2.4 GHz dual-core system by using DDR2 laptop memory modules.

Instructions

1. Power off the computer, and remove the power cord.

2. Remove the screw in the memory slot cover at the bottom of the computer. Remove the memory slot cover by pulling it out with your fingers.

3. Remove the existing memory sticks by carefully pulling them out with your fingers, if no memory slots are available.

4. Insert the new memory sticks gently into the memory slots with your fingers. The memory sticks and slots are notched so that the memory can be inserted in a single direction only.

5. Replace the memory slot cover by pushing it into place with your fingers and replace the screw.

6. Power on the computer. The memory is recognized automatically.
