Dimension 2400 Mainboard Information

Much of the Dimension 2400 is contained on a single board.


A tower-style PC, the Dell Dimension 2400 features a sophisticated mainboard with numerous built-in controllers and a variety of input/output ports (for keyboards, modems, etc). It accepts Intel Pentium IV and Celeron central processing units.


Mainboard Features


The Dimension 2400 mainboard provides three PCI expansion card slots and two memory slots, according to Dell. It offers pin connections for floppy, CD-ROM, and hard disk drives, as well as audio and a fan. It also boasts on-board Ethernet, sound, and video functionality.


Mainboard Specifications


The board accepts DDR SDRAM memory, up to two gigabytes. The manufacturer's documentation indicates that it has a PCI bus speed of 33 MHz and eight DMA channels. Ports include PS/2, serial, parallel, USB, network, audio, and VGA. It takes a CR2032 type CMOS battery.


Mainboard Removal


Repair personnel must detach the PCI cards, floppy disk drive, fan, and heat sink before unscrewing and removing the Dimension 2400's mainboard. The Dell Support page on this model offers step-by-step removal information.
