The P4S533-MX has memory sockets that can support two very different types of RAM.
The P4S533-MX motherboard is manufactured by ASUS TeK. This motherboard is equipped with Socket 478, which is compatible with Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron processors. The P4S533-MX supports Hyper-Threading Technology, which allows a single processor to perform as a dual processor.

The available capacities of PC-100 RAM are 128 MB, 256 MB and 512 MB modules. The maximum PC-100 that can be installed is 1 GB. PC-133 RAM is available in 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB modules. The maximum PC-133 that can be installed in the P4S533-MX is 2 GB.
DDR RAM
Two of the memory sockets on the P4S533-MX motherboard support DDR (double data rate) SDRAM. DDR RAM runs at double the speed of the motherboard's front side bus. These two slots accept 2.5 volt, non-ECC, unbuffered 184-pin DIMMs. These slots can hold PC-1600, PC-2100, or PC-2700 RAM modules. According to Memory Stock, PC-1600 200 MHz DDR RAM modules are available in 256 MB and 512 MB capacities. The maximum PC-1600 that can be installed on this motherboard is 1 GB. Available capacities for PC-2100 266 MHz DDR RAM modules are 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB. The maximum PC-2100 that can be installed in the P4S533-MX is 2 GB. PC-2700 333 MHz DDR RAM is available in 256 MB, 512 MB and 1 GB densities. The maximum amount of PC-2700 that can be installed in this motherboard is 2 GB.
Maximum Installable RAM
This motherboard can accept up to 2 GB of SDRAM and 2 GB of DDR RAM in the four available memory slots, for a total of 4 GB of system memory. Memory for this motherboard does not have to be installed in matching pairs.
