Expose The Motherboard Of An Acer Aspire 5570

The Acer Aspire 5570 is a laptop that comes equipped with either a Centrino Duo or Core Duo processor, a nVidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics processor, three USB 2.0 ports, a VGA display port and support for up to two GB of DDR2 RAM. Should one of the 5570's internal components, such as the system fan, begin to show signs of failure, you may find it necessary to gain access to the laptop's motherboard in order to perform repairs. This will require a nearly complete disassembly of the computer.

Instructions

1. Shut down the laptop and disconnect any attached peripheral devices. Disconnect the AC adapter, if you are using one. Close the display and turn the laptop over. Slide the battery lock to the unlocked position, then remove the battery from the laptop.

2. Examine the underside of the laptop and find the grooves that indicate the locations of the hard drive bay cover and memory bay cover; remove the screws securing both covers in place. Detach both covers and set them aside. Remove the screw securing the hard drive module to the bay, then detach the module from the laptop and remove it.

3. Find the memory module, which is installed on against the side of the bay located next to the battery bay. Push apart the clips securing the memory module in place; remove the module and set it aside.

4. Inspect the interior of the memory bay and locate the wireless card, which has a printed label and an antenna wire attached. Disconnect the wire and slide the card free of its connector. Locate the internal modem, which protrudes from one side of the memory bay. Remove the screws securing the modem in place. Slide the modem free of its connector and disconnect the attached cable.

5. Remove the screw installed underneath the front end of the optical drive. Pull the optical drive out the side of the laptop. Turn the laptop upright and examine the rear edge. Remove the screws securing the keyboard cover to the laptop's base, located next to the display's hinges.

6. Push the display back until it reaches a 180 degree angle. Lift the keyboard cover upward and set it aside. Remove the two screws installed at the top edge of the keyboard. Pull the top edge of the keyboard upward and flip the keyboards toward you. Disconnect the cables leading from the keyboard to the laptop's base.

7. Disconnect the wires leading from the display to the laptop's base. Remove the screws securing the display to the base. Pull the display free of the laptop's base and set it aside.

8. Remove the three screws securing the upper case to the laptop's base. Turn the base over and remove the 18 screws installed along the edges of the base and the hard drive bay. Return the base to an upright position. Lift the upper case free of the base to gain access to the motherboard.
