Buy Accelerated Reader Software

Is your school is considering Accelerated Reader software for its elementary reading classrooms? You have the task of deciding whether to buy the system or not. The following are some things you need to consider. First and foremost, determine how much the program can benefit your students.

Instructions

1. Determine if the Accelerated Reader software fits into your curriculum. Also, find out if it meets your state's reading and literacy test objectives.

2. Discuss adding the program to your curriculum with other teachers. If they don't buy into using the Accelerated Reader software with their students, then you can find a better use for the money.

3. Contact the district library's media and technology specialists too. Accelerated Reader software impacts their job, and they may have questions and concerns before you buy the software.

4. Decide if you want to network the system or if you want to run it on a stand-alone platform. There is a big price difference.

5. Get a price quote. Different vendors may be able to get you a better price. There are also a variety of packages available. You do need to watch for hidden costs. Find out how much it costs to upgrade your system in the future.

6. Ask Accelerated Reader what kind of training is available for your staff. Find out if the training is online or if training is available at regional conferences. Also, inquire if the training is part of the price package.

7. Find out what kind of customer service is available. If you need help and it's not available, the software can't serve your needs then.
