Soyo Lcd Troubleshooting Tips

Soyo Group, Inc., is a now-defunct electronics company that included liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs and monitors among its products until its bankruptcy in 2009. Like all LCDs, Soyo LCDs generate on-screen imagery by illuminating panels filled with liquid crystals, which are molecules that flow like fluids but polarize light like solid crystals. If your Soyo LCD has performance issues, a few troubleshooting steps may help.

No Picture or Sound

If your Soyo LCD displays neither video nor audio, first check that its AC power adapter is properly plugged into a functioning power outlet. If the power adapter is properly connected and the outlet has power but picture and sound still don't function, check that you have selected the proper input mode and that the channel you are trying to view has been scanned. You can select a new input mode from the LCD's input settings or rescan the channel via the LCD's on-screen display (OSD) setup menu. If a Soyo LCD produces noise without a discernible picture or useful sound, an antenna could be the problem. Make sure the antenna is properly connected; reposition it as needed.

Picture without Sound

When a Soyo LCD displays a picture without sound, Soyo recommends three troubleshooting steps: Make sure that the LCD's volume is not turned down; make sure headphones are not connected to the LCD's headphone jack; check that the mute function is not selected.

Sound without Picture

If your Soyo LCD produces sound but no picture, the problem could be a faulty or improperly connected video cable. Alternatively, you may have selected an incorrect display input, in which case you can try choosing a new input from the LCD's settings.

Picture Quality Issues

Three main types of picture quality issues can affect Soyo LCDs: color issues; brightness issues; and sharpness issues. If your Soyo LCD displays abnormal or unnatural colors, you can adjust the LCD's tint setting or experiment with the color adjustment settings in the OSD setup menu. For a Soyo LCD that is too dark or too bright, you can correct the problem by adjusting the brightness and contrast levels or the backlight. If the LCD's picture is not sharp, try adjusting the sharpness setting in the setup menu.
