Restore Optiplex Gx150 Usb Drivers

USB drivers are often part of the chipset driver package.

After a Windows repair or clean operating system install, you may be missing the USB drivers for your Dell OptiPlex GX150. To restore USB drivers to working condition, you must download and install the chipset driver package for your specific computer. Installing chipset drivers is a very straightforward process that requires Internet access.

Instructions

1. Open your preferred browser. Visit the Dell "Drivers & Downloads" page (see Resources).

2. Click on "Select Model" and choose "Desktops". Click on "OptiPlex", and then scroll down and click on "GX150". Click "Confirm".

3. Click on the "Operating System" drop-down menu and choose your operating system. If you are unsure of your operating system, minimize the window, right-click "My Computer" from your Windows desktop and click "Properties". Select the "General" tab and locate your operating system under the "System" field.

4. Click on the "Category" drop-down menu and choose "Chipset".

5. Scroll down and locate the available chipset driver files for download. Find the chipset driver file with the most recent release date and click "Download".

6. Locate the section for "Download via your Internet Browser" and click the "Download" button. Save the file to your desktop.

7. Double-click the file on your desktop and follow the prompts to install the chipset driver. Restart the computer.

8. Right-click "My Computer" on your desktop and select "Properties". Click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on "Device Manager".

9. Locate the "Other Devices" section and click the "plus" (+) sign to the right to expand the selection. Ensure that there is no entry labeled "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller" with a yellow exclamation point next to it. Repeat the process, downloading a different (older) chipset driver if you still encounter a USB entry with a yellow exclamation point.
