Connect A Cd/Rw Drive & Dvd Reader To A Motherboard

When you insert CD-RW and DVD drives into your computer, it's critical to connect them to your motherboard correctly. The motherboard links all computer components together, enabling them to work together correctly. Your optical drives are only ready to use once you have powered your optical drives and connected them to your motherboard.

Instructions

1. Decide which type of cable is needed. Check the packaging or documentation for your optical drives. They must be connected via either "SATA" or "IDE" cables. Each drive is bundled with the necessary cables to connect it to your motherboard. A SATA cable is a thin cable that comes to a rectangular head around 1cm in width. IDE cables are ribbon-like and around 3cm in width.

2. Connect one end of the cable to the back of your optical drive.

3. Locate the equivalent slot on your motherboard. Connect the other end of the cable to the motherboard.

4. Repeat with both the CD-RW and DVD drives.
