Overclock Videocards

Overclocking a video card can help squeeze that last bit of performance out of an aging card or push an up-to-date graphics card even further for better frame rates and rendering resolutions. While overclocking a graphics card may seem like a difficult task, it is easily accomplished using overclocking software.

Instructions

1. Download and install RivaTuner. A link is provided in Resources below.

2. Launch RivaTuner for the first time and let it build the hardware database.

3. Click the "Customize" button within the "Drivers" box on the bottom half of the program window.

4. Click the icon that looks like a graphics card from the resulting menu.

5. Click the radio button next to the "Enable Drive-Level Hardware Overclocking" heading.

6. Adjust the "Core Clock" and "Memory Clock" sliders to the clock frequencies you prefer. See Tip below.

7. Click the "OK" button after you have changed the video card's operating frequencies to your desired specifications. You will be prompted to reboot. Do so since it is required for a stable overclock.
