Configure 2 Power Supplies For One Pc

A power supply is the device which translates the current from a wall socket into wattage that is usable by the components of your computer. Utilizing two or more power supplies can be necessary where you have a single power-hungry component (such as a high-powered video card) in conjunction with two underpowered power supplies. Splitting the workload will enable you to run your premium component without compromising the rest of your system.

Instructions

1. Unplug your computer from the wall.

2. Remove the screws located on the right rear of the case and slide off the right panel.

3. Connect the first power supply to the most power-hungry component of your computer with the appropriate molex connector, whether that is the video card (four-pin 12v connector), the processor (20+4 pin connectors), or system drives in an array (four-pin connectors).

4. Attach the second power supply to the remaining system devices on your computer, including system fans (four-pin 12v connector), optical drives (four-pin connectors), or a floppy drive (three-pin connector).

5. Plug both power supplies into different wall sockets where possible.
