Overclock The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2 66 Ghz Cpu Slawr 12 Mb/1333 Mhz

Speed up the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 processor through overclocking.

The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 CPU (Central Processing Unit) is a quad core processor used primarily in desktop computers. A CPU helps a computer perform tasks and calculations by lending it processing power. The faster a CPU can process data, the faster the computer is able to move through tasks. Overclocking a computer's CPU enables it to operate at a level of speed not allowed by the default BIOS settings of the computer. Overclocking is performed by increasing the motherboard's front bus speed as well as by increasing the CPU's multiplier value.

Instructions

1. Start up the computer containing the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 processor. Press either the "F8" or "F11" key to load the boot menu. (The correct "F" key is displayed at the bottom portion of the window as the computer boots.) Choose the "BIOS" option displayed on the screen, and then press "Enter."

2. Locate the "Front Bus" option and highlight it. Press the "Enter" key to open a list of possible values. Select a value above the default, and then hit "Enter" once more to confirm the change. Editing this option increases the motherboards front bus speed, allowing for greater CPU speeds.

3. Locate "CPU" or "CPU Core" in the options and highlight it. Press "Enter." Locate "Multiplier," highlight it and hit "Enter" to open a list of possible values. Increase the value by one, and then hit "Enter." This changes the CPU's frequency multiplier. The higher this value is, the higher the operating multiplier of the CPU.

4. Exit the boot menu completely, choosing "Yes" if you are prompted to save changes. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 CPU is now overclocked.
