Configure A Playstation 3

Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a powerful video game console that is also capable of playing HD Blu-Ray movies. Before you begin watching movies or playing games, you must properly configure the system. Setup is fairly simple and straightforward and doesn't take long. Without proper setup, the system may not function up to par or certain features may not work.

Instructions

1. Plug the supplied AV cable into the back of the PlayStation 3 (in the Multi-Out port). Plug the red, white and yellow component plugs into your television's Component Video input in the rear of the TV. For better picture and sound quality, use an HDMI cable; the HDMI cable plugs into the back of the PS3 in the same way (in the HDMI output port), but will plug into your television's HDMI input.

2. Connect an optical audio cable from the PS3's audio-out port to your home stereo system. If you do not have a home stereo system and simply rely on your television's speakers, that is sufficient; this step is optional.

3. Connect an Ethernet cable from your router into the PS3's LAN port. The PS3 supports wireless Internet, but a wired Ethernet connection will provide a faster, more reliable connection for online multiplayer games and streaming videos.

4. Connect the AC power cord into the PS3's AC IN port and the other end to an electrical outlet. Flip the main power switch in the back of the console to the "On" position.

5. Power on the television and select the proper "Source." Tap the "Power" button on the front of the console to turn the PS3.

6. Connect the supplied USB cable between the PS3 controller and PS3. Press the "PS" button in the center of the controller.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the PS3 initial setup wizard. Once complete, you can insert a PS3 game disc and begin using the system.
