Build A Gaming Pc Amd Phenom

The AMD Phenom and gaming systems.

The AMD Phenom is a multicore processor developed by AMD. It is efficient for most high-end systems as well as multitasking situations, which makes it great for gaming systems. To build an AMD Phenom gaming system, you will want to make sure the rest of your computer components are also high end. Compatibility is also an important issue when putting your AMD gaming computer together.

Instructions

1. Purchase an AMD Phenom compatible motherboard. Many hardware websites will list the motherboard to processor compatibilities when purchasing. However, if you are confused about finding a compatible motherboard, AMD's website has a motherboard recommended list tool (see Resources). Simply select your specific brand of AMD Phenom from the drop-down list and press the "New Search" button.

2. Purchase plenty of RAM (Random Access Memory). Memory is extremely crucial to gaming performance. Most high-end gaming computers will contain several gigabytes of RAM, anywhere from 2 to 8 gigs. Choose higher quality RAM such as DDR2 (double data rate 2), which, according to AMD's website, is compatible with the AMD Phenom processor.

3. Buy a high-end video card. Look for video cards that have at least 256MB or more of video memory. Most of the current high-end cards have anywhere from 512 to 1 gigabyte of video memory. Video cards also come in a variety of slot formats, such as PCI, PCI Express or AGP. Depending on how many slots your motherboard has, you can also run multiple video cards at once for better performance. The AMD Phenom processor also has a feature called HyperTransport, which will allow you to game in high-resolution 1080p.

4. Purchase a big hard drive. Look for a hard drive that is 500GB or more and at least 7200 RPM's. Some games such as MMORPGS (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-playing Games) have regularly updated content and expansions that can take up excessive amounts of space over time.

5. Purchase additional gaming hardware for a better gaming experience. Additional hardware to improve your gaming experience includes a high-quality sound card, speakers, large monitor and gaming mouse and keyboard. A high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection is also imperative if you are planning to do online gaming.
