Upgrade To 3gb Memory In Xp

Upgrade your XP computer to 3GB of RAM.

RAM is essential for any computer and it determines the number of programs that can be running at any time. It also effects the performance of programs that require a lot of memory such as photo editing software or high end games. Most computers that come installed with XP are shipped with about 1GB of memory. Upgrading to 3GB can be done by anyone with basic technical skills.

Instructions

1. Shut down the computer completely and unplug it.

2. Unscrew the screws that hold side panel to the case. On some computers the whole shell of the case will come off while on other computers only one side will come off.

3. Locate your memory slots. These are thin, long plastic strips and some or all them will already be filled with the memory currently in your computer.

4. Place the new RAM stick into an open slot. If you have no open slots, you will first need to remove one of the RAM sticks currently in the computer.

5. Press firmly on the edge of the RAM stick until it locks into place.

6. Place the computer case back in place.

7. Reattach the case with the screws you removed in Step Two.

8. Plug in the computer and turn on the power. Your memory will automatically be detected by your computer.
